For decades, the best advertising has been locked behind agency walls, accessible only to the world's largest brands with the deepest pockets.
Then AI came along. It made everyone an advertiser. It also made advertising bad. A flood of 'bAIdvertising' ... the rapid, mass production of low-quality, idea-free content. The side effects? Brand invisibility, consumer irritation, and lost budgets.
Where did the Big Idea go? The kind of thinking behind "Just Do It," "Got Milk?" and "Think Different." The world doesn't need more ads. It needs great ones.
We knew there had to be a better way. And it started like any idea... with a simple "What if?"
What if instead of using AI to replace human creativity, you supercharged it with the greatest creative minds in advertising? Then made their thinking available to any brand, any size, anywhere in the world.
The story of Ad Legends begins with twin brothers who chose very different career paths. Steve Metcalf spent years in enterprise tech before building and selling a global industrial technology company. His brother Dave rose to Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy, one of the world's biggest ad agencies.
For years, Steve the CEO would call on Dave the Creative Director for ideas, always struck by how the traditional agency model made top-tier talent so inaccessible and expensive.
Dave had just parted ways with Ogilvy. Steve, fresh off founding Imagine AI Live, the first cross-industry enterprise AI conference, was deep in the AI world and seeing how fast it was changing everything. The two met, and Ad Legends started taking shape.
"I told Steve I'd just left Ogilvy, and without missing a beat he said, 'Good. I've always wanted to go into business with my twin brother.' The truth is, I always had too. We were creative together as kids. Now we're doing it again, but for real this time."Dave Metcalf, Co-Founder
For months, Steve and Dave worked through how the platform would need to function, drawing on Steve's experience building technology companies and Dave's deep knowledge of the agency creative process. But it was one insight that really got things going: the only way to get AI to think creatively would be to train it on the minds of the world's most iconic creatives. Not just their work. Their thinking. Their process. Their instincts.
When the first MVP came together, it validated the thesis. The platform could replicate the strategic thinking behind an agency brief, generating the kind of in-depth creative brief that normally takes weeks.
But strategy was only half the equation. Now they needed to bring in the creative talent that could generate big ideas off that brief. Just like a traditional ad agency does.
"I told Dave we should call it Ad Legends, and we'll train it on the creative minds of you and other high-level creative directors in the business. He was flattered, but said, 'If we're naming it that, we need to shoot for the stars and get the most legendary creatives possible.'"Steve Metcalf, Co-Founder
The next step was to bring in another creative force: Vince Cook, a longtime friend who'd spent over 20 years at agencies like Leo Burnett and BBDO.
Over New Year's Eve, they showed Vince the prototype. After two decades in the business, Vince was skeptical of any AI tool claiming to replicate human creativity. But when he saw it in action, something clicked.
"The part that blew my mind was the strategy. I've seen thousands of creative briefs in my career that take months to make and usually ignore them anyway."Vince Cook, Co-Founder
The app generated strong ideas for a charity he and his wife were involved with. Vince realized this could compress the entire creative process from months to minutes.
He joined as the "Third Twin," coming on as Co-Founder and Co-Chief Creative Officer alongside Dave, his longtime creative partner. Together, they pushed the app's creative output far beyond what the prototype could do and went looking for more top creatives to bring on board.
Steve continued to lead the platform's development, building new features and capabilities under the creative guidance of Dave and Vince.
So what did we actually build? The first AI trained to think like the people who made brands famous. Today, Ad Legends is a working platform powered by more than a dozen top advertising creatives, and growing. Each one's creative philosophy, approach, and visual style shapes the ideas the platform generates. It's the part every other AI ad tool skipped: the Big Idea.
Unlike tools that jump straight to execution, we begin where all great advertising does: with a tight brief and a strong central concept. The platform handles strategy, ideation, and creative development, just like a real agency.
Our platform is trained on the thinking of people who have built billion-dollar brands. They also participate directly, providing the human taste-making that ensures the work is actually good, not just quick.
The traditional agency process takes months and costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to arrive at a few ideas. Ad Legends generates strong campaign concepts for your brand in minutes, for less than the price of a dinner with an ad exec.
Now They Can Make Any Brand Famous
The kind of creative talent once reserved for Nike, Apple, Disney, and Gatorade is now available to everyone. Our platform features some of the most accomplished creatives in advertising history, including Jimmy Smith (Wieden+Kennedy, TBWA\Chiat\Day), Cheryl Berman (Leo Burnett), Rick Boyko (Ogilvy, Chiat-Day), Janet Champ (Wieden+Kennedy), Chuck Porter (Crispin Porter Bogusky), Tom Burrell (Burrell), Steffan Postaer, Lewis Williams, Ned Crowley, Donna Weinheim, Paul Lavoie, and Miguel Bemfica.
They didn't just lend their names. They invested. They advise. They set the creative standard our platform has to meet.
As featured in Ad Age: "This AI platform helps you work with famous ad creatives."
Creativity can't be automated. Only amplified.
We're building the future of advertising the only way it should be built: with intelligence, emotion, and ideas that only people can bring.

Two brothers from Jacksonville, Illinois. One built tech companies, the other built brands. They always said they'd go into business together someday. Then Vince Cook, the "Third Twin" from Austin, Texas, made it a trio. This is someday.
